Fitness Assessment & Testing “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure” Your training begins with a comprehensive fitness assessment utilizing the latest testing methods & technology. You will participate in a physical Functional Movement Screen (FMS) where the trainer evaluates your ability to perform a series of movements to help identify any limited or altered movement patterns. By performing this Functional Movement Screen your trainer can quickly ascertain any potential risk of injury which may have gone undetected in conventional training. During your physical evaluation the trainer will check for range of motion and quality of movement in the feet, ankles, knees, hips, spine, shoulders, arms, wrists, hands and neck. This testing data is collected, organized and entered into the “needs analysis” profile. From time to time during our Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA) advanced physical screening a trainer may find a problematic “Red Flag” area that needs specific medical attention and the trainer will make recommendations to contact your Primary Care Physician. This method of physical testing can help to identify a potential problem before it becomes a debilitating problem and can assist in getting you to the proper medical provider. “If you don’t test it’s just a guess” Next you will take part in a Sub Maximal Cardiovascular test to determine your response to staged exercise and your cardiovascular efficiency. This type of VO2 max testing is adjusted for each individual’s current level of fitness and ranges from brisk walking to running a mile as fast as you can. This testing data is collected to help determine the priority of your aerobic training needs. “How do you know where you’re going if you don’t know where you’ve been” Body Composition testing, BMI (Body Mass Index) calculations and Circumference measurements are performed to establish baseline levels and to help you identify goals for weight loss or gain as well as determine your healthy body composition levels. These measurements are recorded to compare against future testing and to track your progress. “You’re only as strong as you’re weakest link” Strength Testing- various strength
tests are conducted depending on the your current fitness level and
your specific goals. Our strength testing varies from client to client
from pediatric to geriatric populations and everything in between. Strength
testing ranges from muscular endurance to power testing and can be as
many as 20 specific tests. Our trainers are trained in the standard physical testing for all common sports as well as specific testing protocols for municipal service providers such as Police, Fire and Military. |
